LWAU Support & Community in Uganda

Together, we empower people living with lymphedema to lead healthy, dignified lives through support, education, and advocacy.

Who We Are

The Lymphedema Warriors Association Uganda (LWAU) is a patient-led organization that brings together individuals affected by lymphedema, healthcare providers, and community partners. Our mission is to promote awareness, improve access to care, and build an inclusive network of support across Uganda.

Our Vision: A Uganda where every person with lymphedema receives compassionate care and lives free from stigma.

What We Do

  • Community outreach: Health education sessions, school talks, and radio campaigns on lymphedema prevention and management.
  • Support groups: Local peer meetings that encourage sharing experiences and practical advice.
  • Medical camps: Screening, bandaging, and training sessions held in rural and urban districts.
  • Psychosocial care: Counseling and mental-health support for patients and caregivers.
  • Training: Capacity building for nurses, physiotherapists, and village health teams.
  • Advocacy: Engaging policy makers to include lymphedema care in Uganda’s public-health agenda.
