World Lymphedema day
First National World Lymphedema Day Celebrated At Bugema University

Bugema University became the focal point for the inaugural national celebration of World Lymphedema Day, bringing together health professionals, political leaders, the Bugema community, lymphedema patients, and their families. The event aimed to raise awareness, promote sensitization, and combat the stigma surrounding this condition. The celebration featured vibrant singing and dancing, along with powerful testimonials from lymphedema survivors. Kushaba Lawin, an expert client and funder of the Lymphedema Warriors Association, shared her personal journey and encouraged fellow patients to embrace their condition, prioritize self-care, and learn to live with it. “We patients must cooperate with healthcare providers, adhering to their advice for our own well-being,” she emphasized. Dr. Lukula, the hospital in-charge, unveiled the achievements so far in treating patents at Bugema University Hospital. “ we have held 20 successful surgeries sofar and treatment of over 300pateints across the country and Africa.” Professor Masiko Kafeero, Vice Chancellor of Bugema University, also known as Mr. Kuwaguza, reaffirmed the university’s dedication to improving lymphedema healthcare.
